In recent years there has been a major shift in the way that attitudes to play have changed, veering rapidly to a new type of play scenario for the UK but based on the way many of us used to play as children-out in the natural environment exploring natural local places and investigating nature and play opportunities on our doorstep.
In the same way as Gerald Durrell found a fascinating array of wild places in his book “My family and other animals”, children today have access to a wide range of (less exotic) outdoor spaces and the health benefits of being more active and developing outdoor skills have never been more critical to the future well being of our children.
Natural Playscape Associates is a unique bonding of specialist design skills and construction skills, bringing the combined experience of nearly 50 years of the two founding partners P2 Services Ltd and FFC Landscape Architects.
Both companies are based close to Eccleshall in Staffordshire and have operated successful businesses for many years. P2 Services Ltd have been involved in providing landscape installations for major reclamation schemes, house building schemes, major sportsfield projects and play schemes of all sizes across the whole of the UK from Plymouth to the Lake District.
FFC Landscape Architects have been involved as designers on major schemes from golf courses, masterplanning schemes, land restoration and private garden design, and indeed have designed many of the schemes that P2 Services Ltd have successfully tendered.
Although operating independently the two companies saw the potential of working together on Natural Play schemes after a successful project in Leek, Buxton Road Woodland, for Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The design concepts were carefully prepared by FFC Landscape Architects, by closely studying the site opportunities and potential, leading to a performance specfication type approach to tendering, which P2 Services Ltd won. By closely understanding the design concept P2 Services Ltd were able to mobilise site skills and vision brought about by many years practical experience to mould the brief and provide a range of natural play features in direct response to the concept.
It is this unique fusion of skills that we, together,can use to offer a highly skilled and visionary service to clients, be they community groups, schools, local authorities or private landowners.
We see Natural Playscape Associates as being in a key position to design and build Natural Play features for village greens, open spaces, visitor areas, countryparks, theme parks, heritage properties and parks and gardens of all types.
